Call for Publications

Theme: Ethnofuturisms
Subtitle: European Perspectives on Afrofuturism

Contributors are invited to submit previously unpublished scholarly
essays on the topic: Ethnofuturism: European Perspectives on
Afrofuturism. This volume of essays will be a thematic perspectives
on this emerging field of Black/Africana Studies. The purpose is to
explore Afrofuturism across cultural, literary, artistic, internet
technology, and feminisms in a specifically European context. The
goal is to expand the scholarship on Afrofuturism beyond its American
(US) iteration and understandings. This volume is specifically
focused on, and will engage, the following themes:

- The Decolonial in Afrofuturism (postcolonial theory and relevance)
- Beyond the Tropes of Afrofuturism (ethnofuturisms)
- The Enlightenment, Blackness, and Eurofuturism (historical
 perspectives)
- The Pedagogy of Afrofuturism in European Academies
- Blackness, Sexuality, and Gendered Afrofuturism
- Black Techno-Identities and Ideologies of Resistance
- European Cosplays and Afrofuturism
- European Social Media and Afrofuturism
- Cultural (mis)Appropriations of Afrofuturism
- The Business of Afrofuturism in Europe
- Bibliographies of Afrofuturism

Contributors must focus on European perspectives in any thematic
discussion/analysis/polemics of Afrofuturism, especially as it
manifests in specific cultural, ideological, or geographic contexts.
Up and coming (and unpublished) scholars are encouraged to submit
essays.

- Submit an abstract of 300 words
- Essay length of 7500 words
- Chicago Manual of Style formatting for all submissions
- Submission deadline for abstracts is September 30, 2021
- Submission deadline for final drafts is March 31, 2022
